While it’s ironic that my first guest post on Search Engine Journal would be due on the eve of one of the most highly anticipated product release press conferences of the year, it’s the other rumors coming from this company that excite me the most. There’s been a lot of speculation as to what plans Google has for AdMob, and why it spent such a large chunk of change to acquire it. Google plans to acquire Teracent, a startup that allows display ads to be customized for specific deliveries. Teracent’s Intelligent Display Advertising relies on machine-learning algorithms to select the optimal creative elements for each ad impression. The technology from Teracent can also be valuable for delivering Google’s mobile ads.
